The term “twilight” also refers to something which is dimly understood or imperfectly known. So even though a corner of a room may be in “darkness” it’s really just in the shadows of another area.

The term “dawn” can also refer to a new beginning or birth of something, whether literal or figurative. The International Space Station often looks a bit larger, and thus brighter, as it is coming into sunlight during “dawn” on its orbit. What does dawn mean?ĭawn is the period of time when light appears over the horizon in the morning. Dawn is the start of daylight (and morning) from darkness and dusk is the end of day from light. When one mentions “dawn” they are referencing the end of night and start of day, while “dusk” is referencing the opposite as twilight becomes night. What’s the difference between dawn and dusk?ĭawn and dusk are two points in time that we have defined and used to determine what time it is.
